Nigerian Citizen Legal Education (Know Nigerian Law)
The Nigerian Citizen Legal Education (Know Nigerian Law) Project is a resource of this Nigerian Legal Research website.
It aims to provide free access to valuable information on all aspects of Nigerian law, as it affects Nigerian citizens and Nigerian residents, in the first place. Additionally, it is a useful resource for people from other countries all over the world, to enable them to be familiar with common issues in Nigerian law, which may also be relevant to them in one way or the other.
Nigerian citizen legal education, like citizen legal education of any country or community worldwide, is indispensable because of the ancient and modern legal principle in the Latin maxim “ignorantia juris non excusat” which means “ignorance of the law does not excuse” or “ignorance of the law is no excuse”, as commonly stated. A variant of the maxim is “ignorantia legis neminem excusat”, meaning “ignorance of the law excuses no one”.
